Kelli at There's No Place Like Home hosts Show & Tell Friday. People post something from around their house to "show and tell", just like kindergarten.
This week, I have spent two days working on my enclosed, front porch. The walls needed scrubbed, the furniture washed, a chest painted, and the floor painted. I wanted to get this done in preparation to begin homeschooling. We love having school on the porch in the fall. It is now fresh and clean.
However, there is one item on the porch that sticks out like a sore thumb- my converstion piece. It is a shoe mold that belonged to my great-grandfather. The story goes that it is what he used to repair his children's shoes (my grandmother). That's the story and I'm sticking to it.
Your porch looks so inviting, and what a conversation piece that shoe mold is. Simply fascinating....
ReplyDeleteI'm a western KY girl transplanted to north central WV, by the way.
I could get me a glass of cold sweet tea and good book and sit on your porch all day! It is so inviting. What lucky kids to have school in such a wonderful place.
ReplyDeleteI love your shoe mold!

ReplyDeleteYour porch is lovely and so fresh and inviting! I love the old show mold! That is a neat conversation piece.
ReplyDeleteYour porch looks lovely and inviting! I love the white wicker. The shoe mold does make an interesting conversation piece! It makes me think of William Carey, who was a shoe cobbler and prayed over the lost people of the world til he finally felt God called hi to be a missionary.
ReplyDeleteVery clean, fresh and pretty. And the shoe mold is an interesting addition to the decor! I wonder, could one mend all sizes of shoes using that or only small shoes? And who these days would even know HOW to mend a shoe? But it IS a conversation piece for sure.
ReplyDeleteThe shoe mold is a very unique treasure to have! I love your cleaned up porch. I have a weakness for white wicker furniture. :0) It looks like a very cozy place to relax!
