Getting Lost in a New Site

Real Simple

Bought it, Read it, Loved it

I wasn't sure if I wanted to start this book, Passionate Housewives- Desperate for God, but I do love the authors. I had the pleasure of meeting Stacey McDonald two years ago and enjoyed time and conversations with her. I very much appreciate the work of Jeannie Chancey and her website Ladies Against Feminism. However, I was not wanting to read a book this month that made me feel..... well, inferior. (I'm in serious need of sunshine and some Vitamin D!) This book was far from discouraging. It made me want to "gird up my loins" and continue to "fight the good fight."

I think that Romans 12:2 sums up the message of this book:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transfomred by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Bedroom Ceiling Changes

Does anyone know who invented the "popcorn" ceiling look? I have a few things I would like to discuss with this person, like WHAT WERE YOU THINKING. I know that everyone was working toward the textured look during the 90's but was this really considered attractive? Dust and spidar webs love all of the extra places to adhere to.

But if you scrape off the little peaks of plaster, you get this :
But what a mess! Thanks Honey. (my hero)

Five Women and Valentine's Day

Is it possible to have too many flowers in the house? NEVER!
The ALDI'S florist came through again. Last week's sales flyer advertised 12 long-stemmed roses for $16.99 and 6 roses for $2.99. I thought it was a misprint. But no, that was the actual price at the store. Even my 8-year-old could figure out which roses to buy. I'm sure there's a really good deal on 12 long-stemmed roses at ALDI's today.

Like a River Glorious

Like a river glorious is God’s perfect peace,

Over all victorious, in its bright increase;

Perfect, yet it floweth fuller every day,

Perfect, yet it groweth deeper all the way.

Refrain:

Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest

Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand,

Never foe can follow, never traitor stand;

Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care,

Not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there.

Refrain:

Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest

Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

Every joy or trial falleth from above,

Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love;

We may trust Him fully all for us to do;

They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true.

Refrain:

Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest

Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

I Should Have Been Greek

I have been craving Greek food. But there is no Mediterranian blood running through these veins- blond hair, blue eyes, PALE skin and my married and maiden names are enough to make an Englishman stand up and salute.

No planned Saturday activities gave me an afternoon to try some new dishes.

Tabouli

Spanakopita

Hummus

Yep. Here's my dream vacation.

Falling Off the Frugal Wagon

Confession is good for the soul.

It was a snowy, icey day. We were ready to get out of the house by evening and hubby agreed we could eat out.

Show and Tell Friday

It's Show and Tell Friday at Kelli's blog.

Today, I am preparing for a scrapbooking workshop that I will be attending on Saturday. An entire day of scrapbooking! A series of pages I hope to work on is titled, "Attic Renovations." The attic is now a bedroom "suite" for three of my daughters. I took pictures today of their completed room for the scrapbook pages.

Here are some pictures of yard sale and roadside finds.The vanity,the wicker furniture and most of the book shelves are from yard sales. It's amazing what you can do with primer and white paint!

A bulletin board was made on the back of one of the book shelves. We're still looking for headboards - a goal for this summer.

Brag Warning!!!!!

My daughter completed her first wearable crocheting project.

The pattern came from Crochet to Go: 25 Chic and Simple Patterns. The patterns come in a box and look like recipe cards. She ordered it off Amazon.com. if anyone is interested.
